ICT works on request-response model and hence implemented by all organizations to provide access to resources and services.

Concept of ICT:

These are diverse technological tools and resources that are used to create, disseminate, store, manage and communicate information. Computer-based information technology is used for data collection, processing, storage, retrieval and presentation. All the modern electronic communication media are used in ICT to exchange information and knowledge between sender and receiver.

Scope of ICT in Education:

Education is an important knowledge society which is a source of basic skills, a foundation for development of new knowledge & innovations and a mechanism for socio-economic development.
ICT-enabled educational environments where the online world is integrated with the school/college campuses, students will face new set of educational challenges. The changed role of educators will be to mentor and guide learners in ICT based educational system.
ICT enables learning anywhere and anytime through open universities and open education resources.
T.V. is one of the best communication medium to educate.
Educational curricular can be delivered on CDs, DVDs, etc.
LCD projectors used for computer-aided teaching and learnings in the classroom.
Tests and examinations can be conducted online.

Revolution through ICT based Education:

Emphasizes more on 'learning' than on 'teaching'.

Digital age students, more active and collaborative than passive learners.
Learner-centered curriculum , with rapidly changing content.
Asynchronous teaching-learning process through e-learning.
Use of ICT tools for synchronous teaching-learning in classroom.
Online evaluation and result.
Educational management through ICT.

Transformative Impacts of ICT on Education:

Actual study time need not equal classroom time. Students may attend first half a day in school and other half in educational activities anywhere using ICTs.
ICTs can provide courses that small ruler or urban schools can't offer to their students because it is difficult for those institutions which are unable to recruit and retain specialized teachers.
Schools do not need a full-time teacher can use ICT and share teaching through other teachers.
ICT helps experts/retired/part-time teachers in distant education by online courses.

In Conclusion:

ICTs, used well in classrooms, enhance the learning process by,
Allowing students to practice basic skills on their own time and a at their own pace.
Allowing students to access worldwide information resources via Net and to use the acquired information to solve problems.
Offering the cheapest means for bringing the world into classroom
Motivating and engaging students in the learning process
Facilitating understanding of abstract concepts
Allowing students to communicate, discuss or exchange their work with others.
